Diana & Ed's Medical Funds

My wife, Diana, is in a rehab facility and has been there since January 2017. She has kidney failure and is on dialysis three times a week, but she's at the rehab center to get her strength back. She is improving, and won't be there forever, but it's a long road to recovery. A few weeks ago, she was approved for Medicaid and, as a result, the rehab center is taking most of her Social Security to pay for her stay at rehab. However, up until she was approved for Medicaid, Diana transferred her Social Security to me so that I could pay rent, utilities, and other bills that needed to be paid, since I don't make enough to live on my own. That means that in addition to the regular monthly fee we need to pay for Diana's stay in rehab, we now have BACKPAY to pay for her stay in rehab going back to February (she was on my insurance plan at work but it ran out.) That takes up ALL of her Social Security money - the regular fee for her rehab stay plus the rest for the backpay. I was told that it "wasn't enough" and if we didn't come up with more money, we would be turned over to investigators to find out why I was using Diana's money from February until she was approved for Medicaid "for my own use". Like I stated above, I don't make enough to live on my own. Together, however, we're fine. That said, $200 of MY paycheck is going towards the debt. I signed a Promissory Note with the rehab center stating that I would pay the agreed monthly amount until said debt is paid off, which will be in April 2019. My wife won't be in rehab for that long. In fact, she's more determined now than ever to get out of there, but I find myself worried about paying the bills and the quicker we get this debt taken care of, the better. Thanks for your time!
