Help Diana kick ass through the next 12 weeks.
Donation protected
Hi my name is Chris Igne and I am fundraising for my sister Diana Potter who was injured skiing at Mission Ridge Sunday March 10th. I want to help rally the troops around my cheerful, loving and giving sister. She is the hardest working person I know, who normally gets things done, when things need doing. She lives in Cashmere with her disabled husband and 18 year old daughter. She is the primary financial support for the family. All donations are going to her personal living expenses: mortgage, electric, car payment, insurance and internet.
One of her favorite things to do is get outside and enjoying our beautiful mountain. Diana took a hard fall skiing and fractured her cervical spine at C7 and her thoracic spine, burst fracture, at T8. Gratefully, she avoided spinal cord damage, but she is experiencing a great deal of pain and restriction.
(Mission Ridge Ski Patrol was amazing! Thank you for such an incredible job.)
She will be immobilized at the neck and trunk for 6-12 weeks.
It is anticipated that she will not be able to physically return to work, at her 3 jobs for 12 weeks. She will have a lifting restriction of less than 5 pounds for 12 weeks, due to the burst fracture.
Currently she is tolerating approximately 20-30 min out of bed at a time. Her jobs all require standing, servicing, lifting and desk work. Fortunately, she has good medical insurance but does not have any sick leave. All of her current jobs are part time jobs and do not come with disability or sick leave. She is ineligible for FMLA or unemployment because 2 of her jobs she recently acquired and her primary job has been self employment.
These 12 weeks are going to prove to be one of her greatest life hurdles. If you have ever met Diana, you will know that "laying down" is not going to be easy for her to do. She is a mover and a groover, a worker and a hustler. She always has a smile on her face, regardless of what is going on. Check out that smile on the first time out of the hospital bed!!
I humbly ask for help to surround my sister with love, prayers and good fortune. Whether that be a donation, a call, a prayer chain, a meal, or just a cheerful blessing for a fast recovery, we would be grateful. Help her to be the champion that she is.
