Diana's Journey

Donation protected
This fundraiser is for Diana Ramirez- Reyes, a woman born in Mexico, trying to become a legal U.S. Citizen. Diana has lived in the United States since she was 1 year old. Through countless struggles and road blocks, Diana has evolved into a wonderful person, a hard working student, as well as a beloved friend and mentor to many. Diana completed the Tile setting program at Denison Job Corps. During her time at Job Corps, she was appointed a leader as a Foreman in her shop as well as the Student Government Executive President for the entire student body. She was the sole representative for almost 300 students. She goes to bat for all of her fellow classmates, representing their wants and needs to center staff. She has created life long bonds between herself and staff members at Job Corps. In May 2019, Diana began her Advanced Training Program through Denison Job Corps at Western Iowa Tech Community College in the HVAC (Heating, Air Conditioning and Refridgeration) program. She is currently in her second semester after successfully passing all necessary summer courses. She intends on graduating with her diploma in May 2020.

Diana is always the person who helps others, and it's time that others help Diana in return. She never turns away someone who needs help, she is always the first to step up. Even if it's just a pep talk to get someone through the day, advice, or just a shoulder to cry on- Diana is there. She does not want to ask for help from others, but her friends and family care too much for her to not do what we can to help her.

Diana is currently legally in the United States through the DACA program. She was granted 4 years of legal citizenship, but due to our President suspending the program, Diana does not have the option to continue as a legal citizen through this program. She is applying for her Green Card, or permanent residency, with the help of the Iowa Coalition against Sexual Assault. As a victim of sexual assault, Diana is eligible for citizenship in the United States. Diana has been blessed recently and was accepted to be sponsored by the Mexican Consulate to cover all legal fees for the Legal Citizenship process. However, she still needs to raise the money needed to just apply to become a citizen. (For those of you who are unaware, applying for citizenship the "right way" is incredibly tedious, and a lot of Immigrants do not fall under any eligible categories to become citizens. Even if you do fall under a category, your legal fees on top of the application fee are anywhere from $3,000-$10,000 on average.) Diana has legal fees covered, but we are asking for any help to pay for her application. We have an impending deadline approaching quickly, and without this help, Diana may not be able to become a citizen, therefore having to return to a country that she only lived in for one year, and does not know anyone. Please consider donating even $5 for the cause. Diana is an incredible person with huge dreams that she intends on accomplishing, and with your help her dreams may just come true.

Thank you sincerely.
