Diana's Fight Against Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Now that we've shared this difficult news with close family and friends, I will share our story.
My mom, Diana, was diagnosed with invasive Stage III HER2+ breast cancer mid-June 2017. Needless to say, at just 55 years old, this was a horrible shock. My mom couldn't tell my grandma IdaRose and I for weeks. After coming to North Carolina for Fourth of July my dad broke the news to us in person as my mom couldn't bear to tell us.
My mom had been telling the family something was going on. She just wasn't feeling 'right' and kept getting sick. Seeing as she worked at an elementary school, we largely chalked it up to little kid germs. Doctors kept blowing her off but she kept insisting something was wrong until finally an amazing doctor listened...and now it all makes sense.
Adding to the mess, dad is in the process of retiring and mom's positionwas elimimated this past spring. Thankfully she can take Cobra for a limited period of time but anyone familar with healthcare and insurance knows its not the best and very expensive. No one should ever have to live with breast cancer and encounter problems obtaining treatment calling doctor after doctor trying to find one that will accept their insurance.
Despite all this my mom has been a pillar of strength. She is determined to beat this, retire to the cabin in the mountains and one day have grandkids without fur. I've set this up because my parents would never ask for help.
My immediate goal by starting this page is to raise money for a medical wig. My thought is that getting a wig made especially for her out of my hair [instead of a stranger's] would be a great source of comfort during this awful time. A great example is: Caring and Comfort Wigs. I've had long hair my entire life and now IdaRose [grandma] is also growing her hair out. Our plan is to cut our hair and used it for the medical wig.
Please keep my mom in your thoughts and prayers.
Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated. Any funds beyond the cost of the wig will be placed towards the mounting medical bills.
