I need to ask all of my friends and family for prayers for my sweet momma  

She suffered a rare type of stroke called a Bilateral Thalamic Stroke on Friday, December 30th, 2022 while having dinner with my dad and I in Martinsburg. She was initially taken to Berkeley Medical Center.

On Saturday December 31st we decided it was best to have her transferred to Winchester Medical center to their Neuro Unit which is also a certified stroke center. 

My momma has suffered damage to the communication part of her brain, which means she is lethargic at times and her speech is affected. There is only a little paralysis noted on her left side. Now that she has been examined by a Neurologist we have more information on the care she will be needing, including more testing to ensure this doesn't happen again, as well as, speech, physical, and occupational therapy. 

She is progressing well, in good spirits, and we will continue to make sure we get her back to her normal self.

Tomorrow, January 4th, she will be transferred to a rehab center to get the necessary care needed to get her back to her normal self. She will be there atleast 2 weeks.

As all of you know, my mom and dad are never apart. They have that rare love that is hard to find and so very special. He has been right by her side and will remain there until we can get her home. She will not be able to be alone and we anticipate she will require multiple appointments weekly even after rehab to continue to get her back to normal.

This unexpected health event has come with unexpected financial hardship. With the type of care already received and the future care needed to get her all better, we have become aware of the need for some financial assistance.
