Diane di Prima Tribute
Donation protected
We are writing to invite you to join us in a celebration to honor the life and work of poet, activist, and teacher Diane di Prima. On her 89th birthday, (8/6/23) we are hosting a bash to express our love for Diane, there is no charge.
As you know, Diane was not only a groundbreaking poet and writer, but also a beloved teacher who inspired countless students during her years at Naropa University, the San Francisco Institute of the Magical and Healing Arts, New College of California, and other institutions. She also taught many students one-on-one. We all know the impact she had on our lives and our work as well as on American literature and culture. Her voice continues to inspire and challenge folks the world over.
To honor her life and legacy, her family is planning a celebration on August 6, 2023, at the Castro Theater in San Francisco. This event will bring together artists, writers, poets, and musicians from around the world to celebrate Diane’s work and explore its ongoing relevance. The performances will feature readings, music, and other tributes to Diane and will be a powerful reminder of the importance of poetry, art, and activism in our current moment.
To make this event a reality, we need some help. We are seeking donations in any amount to cover the costs of production, venue rental, and promotion. If you are able, please give anything you can. Diane’s work will continue to come out in new publications for decades to come. As we all know she was effortlessly prolific. Your contribution will help to ensure that DiPrima's legacy continues to inspire and challenge generations to come.
We are all students of Diane, we know that you share our deep appreciation for her work and the impact that she had on our lives. Any kind of donation at all will be a big help. We will mention each donor in the program for the event.
Thank you for considering this request, and thanks most of all for your ongoing support of poetry.
Sincerely,
The DiPrima Family
