We created this page on behalf of Diane Salvo-McCallister and her friends and family....
On the morning of August 8, 2016, Diane suffered a massive stroke at her home. Fortunately, her roommate was there, and noticed that something was drastically wrong and she was rushed to the hospital immediately.
After extensive testing, it was determined that she had two clots, one in her neck, the other in her brain. The first was an "ischemic stroke". Ischemic strokes occur as a result of an obstruction within a blood vessel supplying blood to the brain. About 80 % of all strokes are ischemic. The second, known as a "hemorrhagic stroke" is caused by a blood vessel that breaks and bleeds into the brain. Atrial fibrillation, a heart condition may have contributed. She is very fortunate that immediate treatment was administered.
Diane was discharged after two months in the hospital and rehabilitation. She is so happy to finally be at home! Although she is improving every day, it is a slow and steady road for her full recovery.
Thank you for all of the love, prayers and support that you have shown her over the last two months. Diane has touched our lives in one way or another, maybe we can reciprocate and touch her heart.
Expenses such as medical, rehabilitation, insurance co-pays, deductibles and out of pocket costs, as well as personal and living expenses will far exceed the insurance and her current financial resources.
Any financial contributions to alleviate some of her financial burdens are greatly appreciated.
