Dianne Cook Cancer Relief Emergency Fund
She is also a Cancer patient, that capitalized scary "C" word. She was diagnosed with Stage 3 Endometrial cancer that we quickly found out had already infiltrated the lymph nodes. Surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, hormone treatment... the doctors prescribed the whole nine yards.
So far, while we have been fortunate enough to be on the winning side of this fight, we are losing on the other side of the cancer battle. Finances.
Dianne worked tirelessly to become a Pharmacy Technician as she also raised a family. Although she does have health insurance, that only covers a portion of the cost of the multiple procedures that she has undergone, not to mention the time she has had to take off work for recovery, doctor appointments, and other expenses like gas to and from appointments, etc.
Currently, there are many bills that are overdue. Car insurance, rent, car payment, storage unit, mounting car repairs, and we are trying to scrape up gas money just to get the limping car to and from work. And that doesn't even begin to mention the “Second”, “Third” or “Final” notice medical bills piling up on her desk.
Dianne is so reluctant to ask for help, and even when she has had to ask for help before it was never something on this level. However, literally every day that passes now takes with it something that cannot be replaced.
We understand everyone is having their own hard times so any help is more than she expects (honestly). But every penny of it will go straight to healing her heart as well as wallet.
(a little more backstory on Dianne…)
When Dianne was diagnosed with that scary “C” word, she was working on saving enough of a down payment to get a modest trailer home. It may not be impressive, but Dianne never had a home of her own and has for years been living with others in limited space. It was her lifelong dream to have a home she could decorate how she wanted and install the biggest soaking bathtub she could find.
That dream quickly drained away, along with every other penny we could scrape together when she was diagnosed with Cancer.
Dianne has lived the most uphill battle to keep her family together and for the most part, has succeed with much grace and humility, but usually at her own expense.
However, all of this never made her a hard person. She took her pain in stride, always kept her heart soft, and her values true. She’s always worked hard for what she has and for her family (whether biological or adopted in one form or another), but always put herself last. Dianne worked her way up from return bottle washing at a mail order pharmacy, to one of the highest tier Pharmacy Technicians in Utah.
If you know Dianne – you know that she is one of the most amazing people, you’ll ever meet. If you don’t know her, hopefully one day you’ll have the opportunity to encounter.
