Dia's Transition & Safety Fund
Donation protected
Hello,
EDIT: I am financially in a better place again with everything starting to open back up but I’m keeping the description below because I’m not retyping this if we go on another lockdown. Anyways, now I just want FFS so that I can better align with my gender for the sake of my mental health and be one step closer to living without fear of transphobic harassment. So any donations or shares would be much appreciated!
Not entirely sure what to say and feel incredibly awkward having to ask for help so I am going to try and keep this as short and sweet as possible while giving enough details. :)
I am a trans woman and have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, much like... everyone else.
For those who know me, you are already aware that I had a well-paying job pre-pandemic but was laid off at the start of the pandemic. I was able to get some decent-paying work every now and then, but the past 2 months have been incredibly rough in terms of getting work.
When I was laid off from my pre-pandemic job, I had not been working long enough to qualify for the stimulus or unemployment. All of the money I have been surviving off of up until now has been money I have made myself, but I am starting to reach the end of my funds. For anyone who may be wondering why I didn't have more saved, I left college in late 2019 and was a full-time student and did not really have the time to work and save while in college. All of the money made in college was due to social media management and influencer marketing work I was doing on the side.
Last year, I came out as trans and have every intention to medically transition, but was unable to pursue this because all of my money was budgeted simply for survival. I planned to begin my transition journey when the lockdown ended and I was able to continue working consistently, as I hate having to ask others for help; but as the pandemic continues and the lockdowns in my city are extended, I am realizing that I may be out of consistent work for longer than I, or anyone, would have anticipated.
In summary and conclusion, this fund will be used to pay for starting my transition to hopefully pay for hormone replacement treatment as well as necessities such as bills and food. Any money in excess will be put forth to potentially getting FFS at a later date. Any and all money that can be donated is much appreciated and I thank any and every one who has the heart to help me out during this time.
And to reiterate, this fund is a very last resort. I hate having to ask others for help but these past 2 months have been extremely rough.
I am CURRENTLY looking for work and, as of right now and my current financial situation, I intend to end this fundraiser when I am given the opportunity for a full-time position with livable wages. I also intend on giving regular updates on my situation here and on my Twitter account.
Thank you so much in advance,
Dia
