Digital Mano Chamal for Dhan Basnet
Donation protected
It is with deep sorrow that we share the untimely passing of beloved brother Dhan Basnet, age 39, on Nov 21 in Columbus, OH. He was the beloved son of late Khadga Bahadur Basnet and Kaushila Basnet. He is survived by his mother, along with one brother, his two sisters, and his children (2 daughters and 1 son).
Why Digital Mano Chamal?
In our Nepali/Hindu cultural context, funeral rites bear immense significance and are deeply rooted in our beliefs. This period serves as a crucial time for family members to come together, provide support, and perform the necessary rituals to facilitate a smooth transition for the departed soul. Such support is shared via various forms of donations. This digital Mano Chamal is organized for friends and families who cannot attend the funeral rites physically, and to collect your support to carry out the funeral services, rituals, and provide support to the mourning family members.
Background
Born in Dagana, Bhutan, Dhan spent his early adult years in the Beldangi-II camp Sector A/1. His life took a tragic turn when he lost his father at the tender age of 16. In 2011, Dhan and his family embarked on a new chapter, moving to the United States and settling in Erie, Pennsylvania, before eventually making Columbus, Ohio, their home.
Dhan, a resilient soul, had been living separated from his family. Dhan's recent struggles included unemployment and undergoing medical treatment for an ongoing health issue. He was struck by a car while crossing the street in a designated crosswalk and was pronounced dead immediately upon the arrival of emergency medical services. Remarkably, on the very day of the accident, he was discharged from the hospital, adding an unexpected layer of sorrow to our loss.
Known for his own way of kindness and technical talent, Dhan possessed various skills, excelling at thinking on his feet and being there for families with his handy work. He will be remembered for his strength in the face of adversity, his energy, and the courage with which he approached life's challenges.
