Digital Watauga Book Scanner

Tax deductible

The Digital Watauga Project is a partnership between the Watauga County Historical Society and the Watauga County Public Library. We work with donors to digitize their historical photographs, documents, films, and other materials related to the history of Watauga County, NC. We then make those digital images available to the public FOR FREE. To date, we have digitized more than 5,230 items, many of them photos, and all of them online at DigitalWatauga.org.

Many of the items we have not yet digitized are bound materials--books, scrapbooks, phone books, and photo albums--or medium-format items that do not fit easily on our standard scanner. With this in mind, we have committed to purchasing a Crowley ODS scanner, which will permit us to scan items up to 16" X 20" in size, including bound materials.

To make this purchase, we need your help. We are seeking to raise the base funds for a matching grant we have identified. Together, your donations and this grant will allow us to bring a whole new world of materials to the Digital Watauga Project that would otherwise go unseen. Donations of any size will help us meet our goal. We thank you for your support!
