It is with great sadness to announce the unexpected passing of our mother, Dionne Mims. Dionne transitioned on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 due to cardiac arrest. Our family is facing a great tragedy due to the unexpected loss.
Losing our mother so unexpectedly is something unimaginable, and something that we will never heal from. Our family has lost our matriarch - a proud Virgo who was generous, loving, funny, down-to-earth, fun, and caring. A single mother who sacrificed her life to raise and support us. Our mother worked every day in her role as mother to not only as a hands-on parent, but she also guided us through any obstacle we faced including the unexpected loss of our grandmother - Marie in 2012. Our mother loved us and she showed her love in everything she did for us up until the very last day. As a family, we may never be the same without our mother.
Her passing leaves behind the family she worked very hard to support - her three daughters or her "homegirls": Colleen (33), Jaliyah (27), and Nya (23), and her significant other, Gavin; along with a host of family members and friends.
With the unexpected loss of our mother, our family is left in a difficult situation. Our mother did not have a life insurance policy established; no financial resources were found to support her final arrangements. The cost of memorial arrangements will fall on us on top of losing such a significant member in our home.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go first to her final arrangements and expenses; anything left will go towards transitional support services for us to receive grief counseling and bills.
Our mother will be deeply missed by every person she touched in her lifetime. We hope that the memory of our mother will live on forever in the hearts of those who she encountered in this lifetime. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers during this devastating time. We ask that if you are able to donate, we will be greatly appreciative and will use the money needed to help transition our mother back home.
We love you, Mom. Please transition safely to your everlasting home.
