Dio's Leg Surgery and Physical Therapy

Donation protected

Dio, aka Diogee, our puppy (1yr 4m), had an unfortunate accident on Valentine's day. Being a puppy, he did something he shouldn't and ended up fracturing his Radius and Ulna completely.
We raced to a 24/hr emergency vet at 11 pm that was 1.5 hrs away to stabilize him and see the options we had. We waited for several hours to hear news; we raced through every bad scenario that could happen (amputation, irreversible damage, etc.). Thankfully we were only met with the reality he had cleanly fractured his radius and ulna in his front right leg. We were able to take him home to my parents around roughly 5am.

He would require surgery as the swelling made it impossible to line up the bones in a splint. When you're dealing with your first dog, and a young one, you don't care what the cost. They're worth it. Plain and simple.
  • We waited in the room to meet with the surgeon

He was admitted for surgery on Thursday the 17th; he received eight screws and a metal plate in his leg, and a bright green cast to go with it. When the bill came, we faced the reality of dog ownership and that when accidents do occur, they are expensive.

Coming out of Surgery with his 'boot' to keep his cast dry.

 - Here are the x-ray images provided to us of his fractured leg, the leg compared to the left, as well as the leg after surgery.

The emergency vet was $650 +/-
The surgery and pre-surgery x-rays: 4.1k
Follow-up vet visits are unknown as of right now.

We aren't asking for the total price, but just something to lighten to load on the bank account and lessen the stress on us, in turn, reducing the stress Dio feels in the next few months.

Anything helps, and we greatly appreciate the help you're offering. I will update this gofundme as we learn more about Dio's progress in healing his leg.

We are keeping him comfortable with medications, but he will have to stay off of his leg for four weeks as much as possible until his checkup on March 17th; then, he will have a cast another month to ensure his ligaments are healing as well.
