"Without Farmworkers there is no Food." (Art by Marisol Duran)
On Saturday, December 5th at 12PM EST, Fund The Charity Room (FTCR) - a group dedicated to video game streaming marathons for the benefit of charity and mutual aid - is happy to present a new one-day streaming event titled Piñata Party Panic! The FTCR Team will race through Rare's true magnum-opus Viva Piñata, to see who reaches the highest gardener level in 12 hours. This event has been organized to support the essential work of Direct Action For Farmworkers, so follow along, donate, and spread the word over at: FundTheCharityRoom
Direct Action for Farm Workers is a mutual aid group organizing and collecting resources in the Bay Area and redistributing them in the agricultural regions of Northern California. We formed in response to the 2020 wildfires that forced farm workers to confront multiple obstacles such as home evacuations, job loss, wage loss, smoke inhalation in addition to existing pesticide & COVID-19 exposure, poor air quality and exploitation. Our goal is to provide instrumental support for communities of campesinxs battling the current pandemic, and the on-going natural disasters.
This holiday season Direct Action for Farmworkers is fundraising to provide for the needs of 50 Farmworker families. All funds will go to food, supplies and rental assistance. We are seeking monetary donations as that gives us the most flexibility to respond to each family's most urgent needs.
