Direct Aid for Ukrainian Families
Donation protected
For the past 7 years, I’ve worked side by side (virtually) with an incredible team of Ukrainian programmers and digital marketers. Over these years, we formed friendships, celebrated marriages and births of children, and navigated a pandemic together.
On Thursday, February 24, 2022, the lives of our team changed forever. Now they are displaced and face an uncertain future. Each day, they are wrapped in fear as they wait to see what the next few hours will bring. Still, they remain strong, resilient, and hopeful about the future.
I have created this GoFundMe page to help raise funds to provide direct monetary aid to these 12 families. These are people that I am in contact with every day and can send money to directly.
Here are the ways this money will be used:
- To help their families relocate inside or outside of Ukraine to a place where they will be safer
- To replace items left behind, such as toys, clothing, toiletries, and school supplies
- If we meet the needs of these families and have money remaining, I will work with them to identify other families in need to ensure the money is distributed directly into the hands of people who need it most.
If you feel helpless right now, this is something that you can do to help.
We are not powerless - each day, we are given the opportunity to improve the lives of those around us. Whether it's by donating money or simply by being a little more patient with people you encounter, our collective micro-actions can shape our world for the better.
We can’t always change the course of global events, but we can change the lives of individual people. Will you join me?
How will this money be distributed?
Gofundme's policies require that someone with a US bank account can withdraw these funds (since this is set up on the US side of Gofundme). As such, I will withdraw money into my personal Wise (formerly Transferwise) account and then send money directly to my team members' preferred accounts. They are able to receive USD, EUR, and UAH so I can send money in the currency that is most stable/desirable to them. I will personally cover all transfer/conversion fees associated with these transactions.
