Disability adapted vehicle

Hi, my name is Dawn. I'm fundraising for a new vehicle. I was paralyzed in a car accident 21 1/2 years ago on January 21, 2002. A tow truck ran into the back of my car on the freeway and I received two head injuries, all of my ribs broken, a punctured lung, and my spinal cord was stretched at the T6/7 level(bra level) and it left me completely paralyzed. I had 3 young children at the time, who are now adults and have 3 grandchildren. I was driving a new car when I had my car accident, hadn't even made the first car payment, but I have not had a new vehicle since. I bought a used van a month after I got home from rehab that was equipped with hand controls, a swivel seat and a lift for my wheelchair, so I could get my children to their activities. About 12 years ago I was gifted another van from my pastor and DARS at the time helped with the adaptive equipment. I am in desperate need of another vehicle. I have put so much money into this 2002 Chevy Express van and have ended up on the side of the road more than I can count. The check engine light stays on. I'm looking for an automobile, but I can't afford the payments with my Social Security Disability income. I do have a company through Texas Workforce Commission that used to be DARS, that will help me with the hand controls and seat and lift or ramp. Of course driving is a freedom, but for me it's also a necessity with all of the doctor appointments I have. I would appreciate any and all help. Thank you in advance.
