Disability Allowance suddenly suspended
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Wolfram. I came to Ireland in 2010 and worked for a multinational company as a technician.
As I have a long history of heart problems - genetic - I underwent bypass surgery at CUH in 2013. Two days after the operation, I suffered a stroke, which was recognised too late and inadequately treated.
That's when the problems began; over time I became increasingly unable to walk and have had chronic back pain ever since.
On the advice of my doctor, I applied for a disability pension in 2019, which was approved at the beginning of 2020.
Last year, someone from the social welfare office came to see me and my flatmate and wasn't interested in me, but in my flatmate.
As she is a woman, the social welfare office came to the conclusion that we had a sexual relationship, which is not the case. The housing situation only offered the possibility of living together, which I had also described in my application and was not a problem at the time. But now, a year later, my disability pension has been set at a minimum of 24.50 and the caseworker refuses to recognise the documents I submitted. Even the fact that my flatmate has had breast surgery - breast cancer - and currently only receives the minimum wage from his employer is not taken into account at all.
I am beginning to despair. I save money every month for my health insurance, car insurance - we live in the middle of the countryside - and of course taxes. I sold all my shares at the time to buy this car so that I can be mobile and drive my flatmate to the shops. I never ask for donations and always donate to others, but this time I can't help but ask for help.
Thank you so much
