Disabled and just trying to survive!
Hi! My name is Hannah - I am a queer, disabled artist in Las Vegas, and I live with my mother and my 3 dogs Kya, Beorn, and Reggie, my cat Ajani, and my guinea pig farm (Mordin, Yue, Mushy, and Felicia). I'm not able to work due to unhealed hip and tailbone injuries, as well as my POTS, EDS, and chronic pain, which make it so some days it's a struggle to even get out of bed. Kya is elderly and needs round-the-clock medical care and medication and the guinea pigs' den needs daily cleaning, so on days where my chronic pain and fatigue are hitting hardest, things can be especially overwhelming.
When my marriage ended in May 2022, my financial situation became much more difficult without being able to share costs and responsibilities with my partner. My mother has been the primary source of working income for our household for the last year or so, although she does not make enough to cover all of our bills, and I contribute what I can with my art and freelance work when I am able. The record Vegas heat this summer and rising energy costs mean our electric bill has more than doubled, in addition to the rising cost of everything else.
Despite all this, it brings me joy every day to see my dogs playing and living their best life, and providing a safe home for my lil piggies is a challenge, but it's gratifying.
I'm asking for help to save our home, to give my mother and I some relief, and to continue providing for my pets' needs while I find a longer-term solution to keep myself afloat while managing my health conditions. Anything you're able to donate makes a world of difference, and even if you can't donate, sharing my story and fundraiser link does a lot to help.
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day!
