About this Go Fund Me Campaign:
Sustainable Support for the Iowa Disability Creative Works Gallery
Eighteen months ago our non-profit organization. the Disability Enterprise Foundation, opened a website called the Iowa Disability Creative Works Gallery (www.idcwg.org). The Gallery showcases the creative works of artists and artisans with disabilities and helps them to market their art work. While not expensive to operate at $500 per month, since the Gallery is a non-income producing service it will need a base of stable funding. As the Director of DEF it is my job to raise these funds. Unfortunately shortly after launching the Gallery I was diagnosed with renal cancer. With this health issue and given my age (84) I have become concerned about being able to annually raise the funds to support the Gallery. I decided that my best contribution is to try to build a partial endowment fund for the Gallery while I am able. First, I established a goal raising $40,000, enough to provide funding for the Gallery for five years. I turned to close family and friends and managed to raise about half the amount needed.
My dream now is to find a wider base of contributors from the friends of family/friends and the general public through a Go Fund Me campaign.. Checking out the website I think will convince you of the merit of this effort.
Thank you,
Tom Walz,
Director, Disability Enterprise Foundation.
