Help a disabled scam victim

I'm Jill- me and my friend Stephen are trying to help our friend Seirla

Our friend Seirla is medically disabled on SSI/SSDI. She has no way on her own to come up with all this money after what was supposed to be a godsend turned into a nightmare

Seirla was victimized by a scammer. She had posted in one of her writing groups about the vet bills wracked up trying to save her cat (unfortunately her cat didn't make it).

Someone from the group offered to help pay the bills if she did some writing for him. He had interacted in group before and seemed genuine so Seirla agreed. It was supposed to be $600 per instance- instead he sent $6000. Scammer told Seirla it was a mistake and where to send the extra money.

Two days later her bank flagged the transaction as "suspicious". He got very angry when confronted and tried to gaslight her.

She is trying to get the charges reversed and has involved the police and her bank's fraud department. (Thankfully she has screenshots of basically all their interactions)

But in the meantime she has 60 days to come up with $5400 (she hadn't spent the $600 so it was claimed by the bank) or loses her bank account, it goes to collections and it impacts her credit. Her bank also took her entire Social Security check when it deposited today , despite having reassured her days ago that they had set up to refuse the deposit ( she was expecting a paper check this month, she notified Social Security already of what happened)

We will be depositing the money directly to Seirla.

If some or all of the charges are reversed any excess money will be returned (or put towards the still outstanding vet bills if anyone is feeling generous)

Please help a disabled woman who has gone through enough torment in the last month, losing her beloved cat that she hand-raised from a kitten. She didn't need to be additionally victimized and traumatized by a scammer who took advantage of her grief and painful financial situation.
