Disabled, Homebound, and Homesick

My name is Yvonne Allsopp, but many of you know me as your former teacher, as your sister in Christ, as a mother, as a prayer warrior, and as a confidant, and friend. But as of recently, I have taken on the roles of a stroke survivor, a housebound, disabled senior, and someone who is in dire need of your help at this time.
While the last three years have proven challenging for many of us, it has been particularly detrimental for me. In October and in December of 2020, I suffered two strokes. But by God’s grace, I am able to talk and walk, but with the usage of a walker and a cane; as both are used to navigate around my home. I have spent a significant amount of time in rehabilitation, but halfway through, misfortune struck again. In February 2022 my rent was raised by $500. I ended physical therapy because I could not afford my copay in addition to the increase in rent. Being on a fixed income, while living with my adult daughter who has tried to make ends meet amidst balancing her work life and battling her own health issues, we have found ourselves living paycheck to paycheck and our circumstances have become even more disastrous.
In May of 2022, my daughter picked up 3 full-time jobs and while our situation improved for some time, in June, she was in a car accident. She did not sustain serious injuries, however, our family car was lost, she became unemployed, and imaging from the Emergency Room showed spinal stenosis, sciatica, and osteoarthritis in her lower back. She has not been treated for any of this as Medicaid was not expanded in North Carolina.
By August 2022, my health took another nosedive and I became very sick as a result of stress and anxiety. Being without our family vehicle caused us to become housebound which resulted in isolation and depression. I was then notified in November that my lease is up on March 15, 2023. While we have been blessed enough to secure a safe place to live, we urgently need your help getting there.
We need to move back North for the following reasons: to leave isolation, for much needed medical care, for access to public transportation and for overall independence and quality of life.
Any amount contributed is greatly appreciated as well as your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you.
