Disabled & Homeless Cousin

My name is Tara Ferguson.  My cousin Melvin Butler is 64 and currently living in a van with no heat and no bathroom in Douglasville, Georgia.  He is disabled and cannot work.   At the first of 2020 his girlfriend passed away.  She was a paraplegic and he lovingly took care of her for many years.  The rented home they were living in was in great disrepair and is no longer livable due to mold so Melvin is living in a van for now.  The family is working to accumulate funds as soon as possible to purchase some type of mobile home or trailer with heat and a bathroom for his basic living needs in the Douglasville area so that he can remain close to his doctors for ongoing medical needs.  We have tried to find suitable government housing or low income apartments but the waiting list is long and the apartments in the area are not within financial reach.  

Melvin is the middle son of my Aunt Betty who was my father's older sister.  He was named after my father.  He has lost both of his parents and the loss of his partner Linda was a deep emotional blow to him.  He has a huge heart and I think is very lonely since Linda passed.    

As the weather has gotten colder this winter it has made us increasingly anxious that Melvin does not have a safe and warm place to live.  My brothers are trying to find an adequate trailer/motorhome solution.  It would mean so much to the family to be able to help provide this basic living necessity for him.  We would be grateful for any help towards this goal.
