Disabled neighbour's stolen mobility scooter
Donation protected
On the 30th September my elderly and disabled neighbour had her mobility scooter stolen. She charges this up in her garden and although the key to operate was inside the house, thieves chose to steal it - this was a planned robbery, the scooter is hidden from view on the main road.
I am disgusted but mainly saddened. My neighbour did not have insurance, apparently you can only insure a pavement scooter - hers was a road version. This is my neighbours only way to walk her dog and get out and about, she has limited mobility.
Break-ins occur on a far too regular basis, a tv.....a laptop but these are not something which a person relies on and needs on a daily basis.
I would love to try and raise funds to help her replace the scooter (with insurance). I understand you can obtain lighter models that fold up and can be stored in the home, as my worry is if she charges and stores a new scooter in the garden, what are the odds the same people wont steal again!
I hate to see my neighbour upset and traumatised by this, a range of thoughts naturally come to mind when this happens but the three main ones for my neighbour are fear, helplessness and loss of independency. Please help, a small donation can quickly mount up. Thank you. x
