Disabled Ukrainian orphans need your help
Tax deductible
Dear Friends of Ukraine:
I am a Professor of Ukrainian origin at Stony Brook University (US), and I was asked by the staff taking care of orphans and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA to help. About 154 Ukrainian orphans with severe mental and physical disabilities need your kindness. We hope to get chairs for everyone of them. Some are mute, others blind, and many have mobility issues requiring wheelchairs, walkers, and leg braces. These severely handicapped children from Znamyanka, Ukraine (120 miles from a frontline), require about 100 wheelchairs for daily mobility and dignity. More kids will be joining them over time. We have already raised funding for 7 chairs, that were purchased and sent to kids in Ukraine (please see update below). The Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Volodymyr in New York City will facilitate the purchase of chairs in Poland. The Church has a long tradition of supporting these children both spiritually and with donations. The target for the fundraising campaign is $50,000, which will cover the purchase and associated delivery costs of these chairs to children. Our fundraising team is happy to answer any questions.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Volodymyr is located in Manhattan on 82nd street. The building was first constructed in 1894-96 to be a synagogue by noted New York architect Arnold W. Brunner and became a Ukrainian church in 1958.
