Disabled Vet, father, needs wheels!

Meet my friend, Heath, who proudly served his country with the United States Army from 2002-2004. Heath is pictured here with his children, three for whom he has full custody and partial custody of the fourth.

Approximately five years ago, Heath received his annual flu shot – this time with disastrous results.  He developed Guillian-Barre Syndrome - a disorder characterized by progressive symmetrical paralysis and loss of reflexes, usually beginning in the legs. A disorder of the immune system where the nerves are attacked by immune cells.  There is no known cure; some treatments are available, but symptoms can last many years or an entire lifetime.

Heath has lost the full use of his legs and utilizes an electric scooter provided by the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Battle Creek, Michigan.  Unfortunately, about the time he was issued the electric scooter, his vehicle died - permanently.  We have contacted many Veteran’s service organizations for assistance, but the dollar amount required for even a used vehicle exceeds their available resources.

Heath’s friends and family want to help him keep his numerous medical appointments, transport his kids, and enjoy life more without the constant hassle of finding transportation from the remote, rural area where he lives.

We have set the amount at $10,000 with the hope that enough contributions will come in to afford a dependable, used vehicle that can accommodate this Veteran, his family, the electric scooter and can be adapted for use with hand controls.

Can you help? Every penny is welcome for this Veteran in need.  THANK YOU and God Bless!
