Disabled Veteran Needs Emergency Housing Funds

Hi, my name is Ken Crump. I am a disabled decorated Persian Gulf war veteran. My car broke down hundreds of feet from my apartment, and the police called the towing company. I requested that my vehicle be towed hundreds of feet to my apartment. They demanded $220. I told them I only had $57. They then impounded my vehicle rather than taking my money and billing me for the rest. I am a driver and need my car to work. They then charged me storage fees, impounding fees, administration fees, certified mail fees, and more fees on fees. I was unable to do anything about this, and some very kind people helped to get funds to get my vehicle out of the impound and back to my apartment for $589.24 and partially repaired my vehicle.

I suffered a loss of employment due to the impounding of my vehicle, and I got behind on my bills and now face eviction, electricity being turned off, and I need food and cleaning supplies which have diminished.

I and others have tried and are unable to find resources to pay my rent, utilities, phone bills, insurance, registration, and to finish paying for my car repairs. Many of them have a waiting list that is closed or months away, and others require that I be evicted before resources kick in, but I hear that even then, they do not have resources as thousands are waiting for resources. I have gotten my second eviction notice today, September 15, 2022.

I am at risk of homelessness and just trying to get back on my feet.
