Disabled Veteran's Service Dog Needs Surgery

Hi, my name is Amber and my Father, Rick, requires some help for his fur baby and service dog, Riley.

First, I'll tell you about him. He's an extraordinary man, ask anyone who knows him and they will tell you the same. He is a Retired Army Veteran and an (almost retired) Corrections Officer with LVMPD in Las Vegas. Since, September 11, 2001, he has deployed in service to our country 5 times in connection with Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. After returning home from these deployments he was diagnosed with Severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and multiple other conditions involving his lungs, knees, skin, and neck. He would never ask anyone for help and would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it. He's the best dad, husband, and grandpa around (or Pops as the kids call him). He goes above and beyond for everyone in his life and now requires some assistance to help his Service Dog, Riley.

Riley is a German Shepard/Belgian Malinois mix. He has had her since she was a puppy. He has completed many different types of training with Riley for obedience and to help him with his conditions. Riley and my dad are connected. She knows exactly what he needs. I have witnessed her many times protect my dad and help soothe him during panic attacks and other situations. He takes this dog everywhere with him, including on rides at Disneyland. She goes where he goes.

Riley has recently been diagnosed with hip problems and needs a total hip replacement (both hips). Unfortunately, the procedure and aftercare are very expensive. My dad is the sole provider for his household and currently does more overtime than anyone should, to try to save up for this procedure for Riley. To some people, Riley may just be a dog, but to my dad, she is his 4th daughter and his lifeline.
