My name is Gene Scott,

I Worked as an Armored Truck Driver ,as an armed driver for Brinks Global Services.

I was terminated by my company in August 2023 .

In my career I ,along with my Driving partner for over twenty years as team drivers had successfully delivered over the years Trillions of secured products without incident, never late with pick ups , or deliveries.

We delivered product from the US Treasury Department, the US Mint , The Federal Reserves , and prescription medicines all over this country .

In 25 years I’ve had a clean license, no Tickets, no accidents, not even a scratch on a vehicle.

In August 2023 my Company Brinks fired me for a random dot alcohol and drug test , for 25 years I’ve never had a positive report on my dot random testings . Since I was flagged I had to hire a Substance Abuse Specialist, $350.00’s , I’ve had 9 negative tests since .

I’ve met all the criteria to make everything right , but FMSCA red flags you for five years on their list .

I’m trying to fight this situation because it was not my intent to fail a drug test .

4 days later after I did my initial urine test the Medical Review Officer from the laboratory where they test the findings called me to tell me I couldn’t drive because I tested positive for OxyContin (one pill) in my system .

Previous to this test two years prior I underwent open heart surgery to replace my already replaced aortic valve in my heart .

When I was finally able to return to work for Brinks Global Services, I had made it clear to management, and dispatchers to work with me regarding my concerns of weight restrictions because of having my rib cage cut open , as well as keeping me out of areas of elevations because of breathing issues regarding my healing , COPD , pulmonary disease.

On three different occasions I was hospitalized while driving for them , once in Duluth GA, Once in Denver,Co the mile high city , and my home town Palmbay Florida.

I was hospitalized for over a week on each occasion. Every Hospitalization Brinks never paid these hospital bills that were job related , I am faced with thousands of dollars for each Hospitalization. I was there for them when they needed my expertise , but not when I became a problem in their day to day operations.

With each flare up I had a medical condition known as Pluerisy which is comparable to having broken ribs , it’s very painful along with choking conditions with trying to breathe or trying to catch your breath.

When I was in the hospital they would give me morphine to ease the pain as well as oxygen, treatments, and inhalers to get me back to a sustainable shape to release me on each occasion.

The last time this happened is when I went home for my off time .

I kept asking and pleading to keep me out of these elevations because they were setting me up for failure each time by sending me back to these areas. It wasn’t even 6 months when they brought me out to Salt Lake City Utah after I had heart surgery, then sent me to Denver Colorado ,High Elevations to pick up Pharmaceuticals.

I was released from the Palmbay Hospital on my home time after 7 days my doctor gave me morphine in the hospital for my pain , he wrote a script for hydrocodone at my local cvs , my wife ran and got it while I stayed at home in bed , she gave me one of my pain pills when she got back home .

4 days later I’m back on the road , I get called in for a random drug and alcohol test , 3 days later I’m told I can’t drive because I tested positive for OxyContin instead of oxycodone, my wife had inadvertently given me one of her pain medications , my pill container was on the same counter as hers , she confused it with hers , she is on pain management, so because of a simple mistake I have lost my career and probably soon to loose my home .

I’m making not even half of the money I use to make .

I can’t obtain a w2 job because no one will touch me , I’m working for a w900 company that is paying 30 percent which is nothing.

I have no insurance, I have depleted my 401k , the trucking industry constantly complains that there is a shortage with filling driver seats, this one of the reasons why ,and my home is next on the chopping block .

I don’t know what else I’m going to do ,

Every thing I’ve worked hard for will soon be gone !

My wife has dibilatating cancer leukemia,

I’ve got COPD ,

Our son is schizophrenic

I don’t know what else to do ?

I feel like this should be against the law !
