The Ottawa Dispensary Fight
Donation protected
Hey there! Incase you dont know me personally, my name is Shawn and for the last several months I've been helping patients through a Medical Marijuana Dispensary. I've guided patients through the process of obtaining a license from health canada; educated patients on the changes that the medical regime is having in regards to the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes and Regulations; helped in finding illness specific Cannabis strains to combat symptoms effectively and the list goes on.
On Friday November 4th, Ottawa Police executed search warrants at dispensary locations across the city.
As a result, 9 store employees were arrested and are facing charges that are well above our pay grade. Legal fees are expensive in cases like these, and we've been left high and dry by our employers to face the legal system on our own.
We face a stigma by those untouched by the power of cannabis in our community, and now face not only charges, but social, and employment related seclusion for helping members of our own community.
Support is there, but for some, official support is not reasonable due to titles and positions of employment that force archaic perceptions of those involved in the cannabis industry. Many do not feel this way but would face the potential of losing that income/employment if they voiced their support.
This campaign helps to lend an anonymous voice to those that are willing, however unable to help directly.
Finding good paying work is hard, and every dime made is spent on legal fees. The retainer for a lawyer is around $2,000 to start and fees mount as the case goes on.
The goal of this campaign is to subsidize the income from work and family that is spent on legal fees.
In short - the money raised here will go towards everyday living expenses while any money made at work will go towards legal fees, as its against the gofundme terms and conditions to raise money directly for the legal fees themselves for some reason.
There are many cases like these, mine is hardly unique; but if you've ever wanted to help the cannabis movement or are simply looking for a cause to be a part of, this is a time it's needed most!
Having worked for the company the couple months it was here, many of you may know me or remember me. For those that don't, others can attest to how far above and beyond the shops call of duty I would go to help people. From patient education, to symptom vs strain information, it was a personal duty of mine to help you.
Now I need yours.

Donations that arent cash are accepted and appreciated as well, and will serve to lighten the load of living expenses in themselves
As for giving back to donors/rewards, we can schedule monthly or weekly hugs/fist bumps depending on your style; a shoutout on the campaign description page etc. Anything cost effective, I will do my best to give back to those able to help!
