Displaced and homeless Sri Lankan families
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Bryan and I am fundraising on behalf of my friend Samir Nadeer and all the internally displaced and homeless families currently forced to live in Qadir Mawatha Mosque in the Sri Lankan city of Gampaha, Western Province.
Most of these families had homes and could support themselves before this crisis, but as money became harder to come by, they were forced to sell their homes to buy food and other basic necessities. They now share this one-room building as their last source of refuge.
The situation is dire with these families being particularly vulnerable due to their numbers, including eight women, 14 children, and various elderly who require medications (including Samir's own grandfather, who had open heart surgery two times this year).
Please see the following paragraph written by Samir detailing their needs and struggles to understand the situation a little more
"Hi,
I am sure most of you are aware of the economic crisis Sri Lanka is facing right now. The worst part is most of the middle-class family turned below their poverty line whereas those who were in poverty line cannot meet their daily needs such as foods and medicines. Many are skipping meals or unable to work due to a lack of fuel and everyone in the country faces daily powercut of 5-6 hours. The above picture is a small mosque in a village located in the Western Province of Sri lanka, where 8-9 families share the room and 1 restroom (which is destroyed as seen in the picture).
For more information on what daily life is like for many on the island at the moment, please read this https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-62077109
With this fundraiser, we are hoping to directly help these families with their basic needs in relation to Food, Medicines, Repairs and Education.
Thanks for sparing your valuable time reading this!"
ALL money received will be directly donated to the needs of these people.
