Written by a close family member on behalf of Dustin and Joseph Wade:
In the early morning hours of Monday, December 7th, everything changed for the Wade Sponsored Residential Home. Dustin and Joseph Wade lost everything they had, as did the live-in individuals that they care for each day.
An electrical fire started in the basement and quickly consumed their entire home.
Luckily, Joseph and Dustin were able to everyone out of the home safely, however they did lose their family cat, along with all of their belongings and their family’s belongings as well. Everyone in the household made it out safely, with just the clothing on their person, no other belongings.
Items that need to be replaced include everything from clothing to an entire home.
Being displaced from your home due to a fire is a tragedy in itself, but having live-in individuals displaced as well, and facing all of the challenges that come with this tragedy – that’s a whole new level of despair.
I’ve watched these two build a happy home for their family and live-in individuals, truly sharing their lives with them, opening their homes and hearts, and caring selflessly for their family. The Wades are not ones to reach out and ask for help, however they are asking now, so that they can care for their household as they begin the process of rebuilding.
We all realize that 2020 has been absolutely awful. The Wades realize that there will be many people who will want to help, but cannot afford to, due to how badly this year has been for everyone. If you are able to help, any amount will be appreciated. If you are not able to help financially, emotional support is also welcomed and appreciated.
May everyone stay safe, and never take a single day for granted.
