Displaced from Lahaina Wildfires

Aloha and thank you for stopping by and reading my brother's story. On August 8th, 2023 in Lahaina, Maui, hurricane Dora passed south of the Hawaiian islands and brought widespread devastation from high winds and wildfires that destroyed everything in its path.
My brother Chris "braddah", his girlfriend and their dog were woken up from the smoke, flames and screams. Very confused and scared, they tried to get out of the area as fast as possible, but were met in gridlock with other vehicles.
He described it as not being able to see anything in front of you, with fire and embers blowing in every direction. The only way they got out was making a quick decision turning against oncoming traffic, following an officer with his sirens on.
They barely made it out of the area alive. With no gas and damage to their van, they walked to Kaanapali until they kept being told to move out towards Honokowai. They waited for days with no help.
With no sleep, food and barely any water, they made a desperate decision to go back on foot to siphon gas from abandoned cars so they could hopefully drive back out to town.
There was no warning that the fires were spreading quickly and we’re thankful that they are ok. When I did meet up with them finally, they looked like they came out of a war movie. They still have no idea where some of their friends and family are till this day.
Chris is disabled and I'm trying to help advocate for them as much as Ican.
Any monies raised will go to rebuilding what they lost in the fire and to help fix their van.
Mahalo from our ohana to yours ❤️
