District MHCF fund for restoration for 2nd Ave
Tax deductible
The Downtown District and Metro Historical Commission Foundation today announced a fund to help restore the vitally important historic district of 2nd Avenue which was severely damaged in the Christmas Day bombing. The goal of this fund is to raise money for restoration of the historic district and improving the vibrant riverfront neighborhood.
Those immediate needs may include:
* obtaining independent structural assessments of buildings,
* salvaging and storing building materials to be used in rebuilding,
* making emergency repairs to facades, and
* assisting owners with stabilizing buildings.
While insurance may cover and reimburse these expenses, our goal is to have funds available quickly to prevent further loss. Once immediate needs are covered, we anticipate raising funds to bring back this special place in Nashville’s history and its life today. This initiative will take years and millions of dollars.
