Neighborhood Uplift Bus-to diversify the mountains

Donation protected
Neighborhood Uplift has a mission to diversify the mountains by providing access and accessibility to a wide range of people. The exposure of seeing a waterfall, sitting in a hot springs, or sliding down a ski slope is sadly not a universal experience that everyone has had. Therefore, we have a tiered program designed to be the change we seek and help diversify the mountains one trip at a time.

We are seeking to buy a used charter bus to transport a wide variety of people into spaces that have often felt inaccessible due to affordability, ignorance, and a multitude of other factors.

We have already found a bus company that is liquidating their assets due to the pandemic that is local to Colorado (where we are located) and has well maintained Setra 417 Busses for sale. Two busses in particular that have the features and fit the needs of what we are striving to do are what we are actively pursuing to acquire.

Busses are not cheap, new busses are hundreds of thousands of dollars and quality used busses are not a small investment, which is why we are seeking the help of our community. Lowering the initial overhead allows the busses to be used to help the community while charging a lower price point for adult facing activities and being able to cover youth led initiatives.

We have already established partnerships with local businesses that have provided equipment that we will be able to allow people to use when visiting the mountains to help reduce the barriers that often limit involvement. We have also partnered with a local Ski Club (Ski Noir) who has partnerships with local mountain's that will help to provide discounted tickets to different activities to truly help to diversify the mountains.

One of the largest costs in providing trips has often been the overhead of transportation that has limited our past reach and impact. We already have a good working model of activities and programs that have been successful and so we have a good idea of ways to build on that if we had our own bus to help support us.

A bus has always seemed like too large of an investment for us to pursue but because of the pandemic many companies have been forced to downsize which has led to a reduction in the price the busses cost. We are hoping to secure a bus during this moment of opportunity to prepare for a time when outside opens back up again.

ANY donation no matter the amount is helpful as we pursue a dream that is big and scary but also obtainable and something we can manage. For those looking to provide large donations who are interested in our Angel Investor information please email us at ([email redacted]). We thank all for helping us in turning dreams into reality that can then lead to a greater impact on our larger community.

We are Neighborhood Uplift and are committed to diversifying the mountains one trip at a time. We thank all for the support knowing we are better together because it is NU.
