Divorce Attorney retainer and fees

As many of you know this has been a rough year for me. In January my spouse of 20 years decided he wanted to end the marriage. We had agreed to negotiate together or use a mediator to keep legal costs down, but he went behind my back and hired an attorney to serve me papers. I need good legal representation, to fight for what is at least “fair”. My best friend paid a consult fee yesterday and went with me to an appointment with a very nice lady attorney. We both really liked her. So, my best friend put the 3,000 retainer on her credit card, until I could try and raise some of the money back for her.
