Dixie Youth World Series in Ruston, Louisiana

Hi, my name is Lee Hughes and I am fundraising for 11 boys who have the opportunity to go to the 2023 Dixie Youth World Series. To give a little information and the back story, these boys are from a 1 red light town with a population of about 1600. They started this journey in Februrary after sign-ups and evaluations were complete. They competed against each other during the regular season while on different teams and in May, were selected to the All-star team for Schley County.

For the whole month of May and beginning part of June, they battled the South Georgia heat and humidity practicing multiple times a week to improve their game in anticipation for the district tournament that began on June 9th and ended on June 11th. They subsequently won their District Tournament and advanced to the Dixie Youth State Tournament.

They continued to put in the time, focus, and energy needed so they could be successful over the course of the next few weeks and then traveled to Madison Georgia on June 29th to start the state tournament. They played 6 tough games over the course of 4 days, going 5-1 and winning the Dixie Youth Georgia State Championship.

With winning the tournament, they have now earned the opportunity to represent the State of Georgia as their lone entry in to the Dixie Youth Division II World Series and make a run at bringing a World title home to Georgia.

With this comes a lot of expenses. They have uniform costs to include, hats, jerseys, belts, pants, socks, helmets, and turf shoes. They also have travel, food, and lodging expenses as the tournament takes place over 7 days and is 530 miles away in Ruston Louisiana.
