DJ Denise Across Beautiful Canada

Dear friends and followers,
My name is Dj Denise and I have been supporting the community for over 15 years and have made many connections in the Black & Indigenous music scene, highlighting music across Canada, from Victoria, British Columbia to Halifax, Nova Scotia. I have dedicated my entire quarantine & lockdown to speaking with recording artists from every level in the music industry.
During the lockdowns, my eldest son became addicted to opioids after being prescribed them by a physician to help him heal an injury. We are in a fight for his life right now and it's been a challenging time for our family. I am a mother to 4 sons.
My eldest is the backbone of my business to date. At my side, lifting heavy equipment, handing microphones to artists when they are up next, and everything else that needs to be handled. He is also an aspiring audio engineer, already creating beats, & collecting studio equipment of his own. I started this campaign to take him with me across the country to all of the cities we have touched over the years.
I’ve done a lot of research over the past months and learned that one of the best solutions (along with proper therapy) for addiction is a change of environment. I have tour dates in Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, & Halifax set, but have not been able to commit to the dates in fear of leaving my son behind & not being able to monitor his daily activities.
I want to get him out of Vancouver and take him on tour with me to support him in his recovery and also to further foster his skills and talent. It is my desire for him to see the influence and connections our family has made across the country. I believe that this journey will be the perfect opportunity for my son and his healing at this time and we need your support to make it happen!
I'm sure folks know what I am going through. This opioid epidemic has hit our city hard. We just wanna see a way out. In this YouTube video below you can see my son right by my side as he always is.
Thank you so much to everyone who is able to contribute to making this vision a reality for us - everything helps whether it’s a small donation, sharing or telling a friend.
What I know from producing + being part of countless events is that great things happen when people come together. We are so grateful to everyone who took the time to read this, and give thanks for everyone who has already supported + continues to support us in so many ways.
