Today is one of the hardest days I have faced in my life and will continue to be a struggle to move forward with this tragedy that has taken place. As you all are aware I have lost my husband, my soulmate, my lifelong partner, my friend Due to his congestive heart failure he was no longer able to stand as his body slowly started to shut down. On December 5th my husband Donnie Joe Garcia declared an emergency while he was being housed at Sterling correctional facility. That day the facility flight for lifed him to the hospital and it was there where he stayed 21 days in the ICU unit. Myself or any of my boys were not getting any information as to where he was or what was happening due to their strict security policies. All they told us was that he was having trouble breathing and they sent him to get checked. So this is when we started calling the family, all his brothers and sisters to let them know the circumstances. We were all worried, crying, praying and calling everyone from DOC for help and answers. Still we got none!!! It was a rough Christmas Holiday not knowing where my husband was or in what condition he was in. But God heard our prayers as we continually Pressed in and petitioned him to move his hand upon the situation. Finally December 30th God moved his hand and my husband finally was allowed to call us. What he had said was nothing short of a miracle from heaven. He said he was out and all he could remember was that he was heading towards a dark dark black place. As he continue to head towards the darkness he kept hearing a voice telling him to turn around, turn around. He said he was scared and he didn’t want to but he ended up doing it anyway. When he did turn around he saw a like a bright flash a bright light he has never seen before, then he open his eyes and he was on the operating table where they resuscitated him. We thank God for bringing him back and for allowing us to talk to him and be with him before his passing. Since the beginning of January he has been housed here in Denver at the Drdc medical facility. It was Tuesday, March 5 at 6:00 PM when we received a call to go to Denver health as soon as possible because his health and heart were failing. 9:16 PM is when his heart stopped and we were all heartbroken knowing this was it, he was gone. Our prayers were answered because he didn’t pass alone, all his boys as well as myself were there by his side.
It is now at this time that I would like to ask everyone, friends and family for your support to help lay my husband to rest and give him a proper burial service and closing of this chapter in life. My husband was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend and much more, and you all know he would give the shirt off of his back to anyone that was ever in need. He has been a blessing and has helped a lot of us in life whenever he had money or anything we needed. We tried to get life insurance for him but were denied due to his late health issues he was facing. Please anyone that can help with anything please will you do it for him? You all know the hard life that he has lived and the love he has in his heart for everyone. Everybody knows the struggle and how hard it is to try to save money or even think about the death of your loved one. We have not saved much and it hurts to know or to question the proper burial service for my husband. We will get some support from other resources, but not all will be covered. So this is why I’m asking family and friends to please help at this time, please.
Thank you all so much for taking time out of your day to read this and to contribute anything you can. We all love you and will keep you updated on funeral services and plans. Please be blessed as you go throughout your day and know that tomorrow is promised to no one, so love today because we can never turn back the hands of time .
Sincerely his wife, Caroline Garcia
