DjangoCon Africa financial assistance fund

The first edition of DjangoCon Africa takes place this year, 6-11 November in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

The economics of an event like this are an enormous challenge. We need to raise more funds to provide assistance for travel and accommodation to many attendees, including speakers, who will not otherwise be able to attend. This applies particularly to attendees who will be coming from other African nations.

Every single penny that we receive in donations will be used to assist travellers on low budgets, and every donation, however small, will help make a difference to a real person.

The organising team includes former Django Software Foundation President and Vice Presidents, DjangoCon US and Europe organisers, and organisers of African PyCons - including the very first PyCon Africa. (A similar campaign for that event raised enough funds to cover long distance travel for 12 attendees from other African countries).

After the event we will publish a full report, including a report on how this campaign's funds were used.
