Chief Needs Our Help
Chief is an adorable 5 year old boy who was surrendered to Adopt A Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit organization. His owner felt he needed to find a family that could provide him more time and attention. Prior to this, he had been shuffled through at least two other homes. AABR was happy to have the opportunity to find this deserving guy a wonderful forever family where he can truly get settled and know he is home and safe.
When we took Chief to the vet, we discovered a swelling between his mandibles. Aspirated fluid indicated it was a salivary mucocele. This is a collection of saliva that has leaked from a damaged salivary gland. The cause is unknown, but these are often the result of trauma from things such as choke collars, wounds or chewing on foreign materials. The only treatment is removal of the salivary gland. Chief recently had this surgery completed and he is recovering well at his foster home. He currently has a drain while it is healing.
Chief will return for his recheck in a few days. This was a large, unexpected expense and we would appreciate any donations towards his surgery costs. The total cost of his surgery was $2,100. The prognosis for Chief is excellent following now. Please help us with Chief's expenses so we can get him healthy and into a loving, forever home. Chief thanks you from the bottom of his sweet heart.
