Kayla Fletcher Leukemia Recovery
Donation protected
Friends,
It is with heavy hearts that we share that our sweet sister, Kayla has been diagnosed with Leukemia. This has come as a shock to our family.
It has been one week since the first symptom appeared. In a short few days Kayla has undergone multiple blood and platelet transfusions, a bone marrow biopsy, spinal tap and an extremely difficult port placement in order for her to begin receiving chemo. Previous medical history and heart disease, along with her Down Syndrome adds additional challenges to her treatment plan.
Kayla has begun receiving chemotherapy as of Tuesday, August 25th to begin the long 2 to 5 year road to recovery. Her initial treatment includes a minimum of 2 to 4 weeks in the hospital. Yesterday she was transferred to the ICU, due to post-op complications.
After this initial inpatient treatment at the hospital Kayla will return home for continued chemotherapy between additional future stays in the hospital. There are significant adaptations that need to be made at her home in order to provide an environment conducive to her recovery. Any funds donated will be utilized to prepare her home for her return and successful recovery in addition to unforeseen costs associated with her condition.
Please join us in lifting her up in prayer that:
- The cancer has not spread
- Her doctors have God's wisdom to choose the best treatment and care
- Strength for our family as we fight this
- Kayla to have courage and cheer as she takes this thing head on
Kayla has been and always will be a fighter! She has triumphed and succeeded with multiple open-heart surgeries in the past and we have no doubt that she will triumph yet once again.
Her name, Kayla Victoria means "Pure Victory" and we expect nothing less for her! Please help us in meeting this goal to heal our cherished sister!
Thank you for the love and support!
