Kim's Fight with Cancer (She WILL Win!)

My sister, Kimberly McDermott, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She has HER2-positive breast cancer. HER2-positive breast cancers tend to be more aggressive than other types of breast cancer.

Kim will begin chemotherapy and HER2 treatment very soon at Shands Cancer Center in Gainesville, FL After three (3) months of treatment she will undergo surgery, then reconstructive surgery. After all of that, she is then looking at several more years of injections to ward off the reoccurance of this aggressive cancer.

That's the reason for this GoFundMe. Kim is a single mom and will need to travel to Gainesville at least once a week for 12 weeks (302 miles round trip) for treatment and appointments. Between the cost of travel, doctor co-pays and the medications she will need on top of everything else, she is going to need our help. This is the best estimate I can come up with. I know it will not cover all of her costs, but every little bit will help. Currently, she is looking at a 5-10 year treatment plan.
