Hewitt Sluyter is 10 years old, and he’s about to fight cancer this summer.
After undergoing a massive surgery to remove a baseball-sized brain tumor in May of 2022, biopsies revealed Hewitt has a rare form of cancer classified as BCOR altered embryonal malignancy.

This summer will look very different for the Sluyters, who were dreaming up fun bike rides and camping trips. Hewitt won’t be able to ride his bike this summer, so we are rallying the cycling community to DO IT FOR HEWITT!
The DO IT FOR HEWITT Challenge is open to all people on all bikes, and during this year’s summer solstice, June 21st, we are encouraging the cycling community locally and globally to ride as many collective miles as possible...for Hewitt! Ride with GPS is hosting a community miles challenge platform. If you already have a Ride with GPS account, all you have to do is join the DO IT FOR HEWITT Challenge . And if you're new to Ride with GPS, you can create a free account, then join the challenge. If you log a ride on June 21st, every mile will be counted! We're going to try to collectively ride 20,000 miles!
The Sluyters will undoubtedly have some financial burdens as they fight cancer, travel, miss work, take care of their other two children, and seek the best medical treatment possible for Hewitt.
We are hoping in addition to riding on June 21st, you'll consider a personal donation to help the Sluyter family. Please consider this precious family as they fight one heck of a fight together in 2022.
We are also seeking a donor who may be able mileage match, a dollar for every mile collectively ridden! If there is any individual or corporation in your community who may be able to do so, please contact Scotti at [email redacted]
Every dollar raised on the Go Fund Me platform will go towards their family's medical and travel expenses. We have faith that Hewitt will be back on his bike next year!
