Honoring WWII B-24 & Crew

Donation protected
The funds raised will be used for a memorial monument honoring the crew of the B-24 Liberator Hot Stuff for being the first in the 8th Air Force to complete 25 missions in WW II and Lt. Gen. Frank M. Andrews (Andrews Joint Base Andrews in Washington, D.C. is named after him) and those killed when the bomber crashed into a mountain in Iceland on May 3, 1943.  Hot Stuff was returning to the United States to tour the country and help sell war bonds.  Gen. Andrews "had been selected to command the entire Allied Forces that would make the eventual invasion of Europe across the English Channel." The assignment was given to Lt. Gen. Dwight David Eisenhower 7 months later.  14 of the 15 passengers and crew onboard Hot Stuff were killed in the crash.  It remains the worst airplane accident in Iceland’s history.

The monument will be on property donated by the town of Grindavik, Iceland and is located close to a main highway with the crash site in the background.  It will be dedicated on May 3, 2018, the 75th anniversary of the accident.  100% of the money raised will be used for design, construction and placement of the monument.

This project is supported by the non-profit 93rd Bombardment Group Association, a 501(c)3 organization making your tax deductible.

Thank you for your help in honoring true American heroes who were forgotten until now.
