DOC Band for Addie

Addie had a consult with Cranial Technologies on 3/8/19. They did 3D images of her head, and it came back that she has Brachycephaly, which means her head is wider than normal and the back of her head is flat. It also came back that her head isn’t proportionate, and it is in the severe range. So, she needs a helmet to reshape her head and she will be in it for 3-4 months.
Addie is 7 months old and even despite our best efforts with tummy time and her spending time off the back of her head it has not improved. Without the helmet it will not correct itself. Addie was born 3 weeks early and was primarily breech most of my pregnancy, between those 2 factors, and her being a back sleeper her head just hasn’t had the opportunity to even out. The specialist noted “I do not see this head shape improving without intervention, given her age and mobility”.

We have Cigna Health Insurance and found out they do not cover the DOC Bands unless it’s needed post operative (which in our case it’s not). They denied our claim, even with us submitting multiple referrals from our pediatrician and the specialists at Cranial Technologies. I spoke to representative at Cigna about our coverage and asked about appealing the decision and although the said we can appeal their decision, it still can’t be covered because within our plan it states that the only way the DOC Band can be covered is if it’s post operative. So, this is where the Gofundme comes into play, we have to pay entirely out of pocket. 
The only thing Cranial Technologies accepts is Care Credit, and both Jason and myself were denied. We just don’t have that kind of money upfront even across all of our credit accounts. So, out of pocket it’s $2,500 and they said we can spread that out over 5 months, so 5 payments of $500. I hate sharing our financial situation but we simply don’t have that a month.
Or if we can pay it all upfront, it’s a 10% discount, which brings it down to $2,250.
