Dog attack survivor Gyöngyi needs our help

While many people were celebrating the Twosday palindrome of February 22, 2022, Gyöngyi Bazso Maas was fighting for her life as two vicious dogs attacked her on a street in her own neighborhood.
What began as a typical day for Gyöngyi, ended in unbelievable horror. After kissing her two children goodbye as they left for school, Gyöngyi decided to go for a run in her neighborhood.
As she rounded the corner, not far from her home, she saw a dog and wasn’t too alarmed, but soon found herself on the ground fighting for her life being attacked by two barbarous dogs. Their strong jaws and teeth ripping and tearing at her vulnerable flesh, nearly mauling her to death.
One neighbor managed to scare one of the dogs off with a baseball bat and the other was finally shot by police once they arrived to the scene. Unfortunately, the gruesome canine duo had already left Gyöngyi lying motionless in the street, critically injured.
Gyöngyi was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Thankfully the staff at the hospital were able to stabilize and save her life. But Gyöngyi still has a long healing road ahead of her, not just physically but emotionally.
She received her first round of surgeries that afternoon and into the night. It’s expected she will need more surgeries in the near future to help repair the damage to her body.
Her injuries are significant: several broken and fractured bones, nerve, muscle, tendon and ligament damage in her arms, wrists and hands, numerous skin lacerations/punctures to her head, face, lip, ear, leg and lower back, some of which will require skin grafting to heal.
Gyöngyi will likely need several more surgeries, including reconstruction of her ravaged ear and face. She will also need physical therapy to help her manage just the basics liked being able to walk again and regaining most functionality of both hands.
Her husband of ten years Mike, their two young children Alex and Lori, their cat Rosie, her family near and abroad, are still in complete shock over this horrific attack. They are doing everything they can to support the healing and restoration of Gyöngyi.
But Gyöngyi and her family will also need help from others for all the unexpected medical expenses that will certainly go on for a long time as Gyöngyi’s body and mind struggles to recover from the brutal attack of those two dogs.
Gyöngyi and her family are more the types to give than to receive. So it’s very hard for them to ask for financial assistance. But knowing that medical insurance will only cover so much, they feel they have no choice to reach out to others and request assistance.
Any donation received will be used to pay for Gyöngyi Bazso Maas’ ongoing out-of-pocket medical expenses and possible legal fees to pursue those responsible for this heinous and destructive attack.
Please consider making a donation to help Gyöngyi heal and recover. Had her neighbors not risked their own safety as Gyöngyi lay helpless in the street as the dogs attacked her, she may not have survived. All Gyöngyi did was go for a run in her own neighborhood, and in a matter of mere minutes her entire world was shattered by a traumatic attack that nearly ended her life.
Gyöngyi needs our help, so please consider making a donation towards her well-being and recovery.
