Dog daycare and pet services affected by Covid19
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
I opened my small business in Toronto last year in June 2019. We are a doggy daycare that provides daycare, boarding, walking, grooming, home visits and a bit of retail.
When I first opened my business I didn't receive enough financial aid through my business bank loan that I was promised. It was a rough first year but every month we were slowly growing organically. Business started to pick up last October of 2019.
Unfortunately due to the pandemic of Covid19 I lost $5000 dollars and 90 percent of my clients in one day. My business strives off of the main services that I provide which is daycare, boarding, walking and grooming.
The government claims that they are here to help every Canadian but in a time like this it seems to be very untrue. I've called BDC multiply times and they basically told me there's nothing they can do for me if my business has not been operating for more than 2 years. I've called the CRA and they having me going in circles because no one knows what to do.
My mother runs our small business together with me and with the earnings we've lost I don't know how I'm going to cover our rent/bills at home and at our commercial space.
It took my sweat, determination, passion and my little savings I had to open this business and I would be heartbroken if I had to end up shutting down for good because of this economic crisis. No one knows how long we will be in this but the future of my business is not looking the greatest.
I have known many of my clients for years and have gained more amazing clients since we opened. It would devastating to them and their pets if we were no longer here to provide these services for them.
So if you're able to support a small local business owned by women entrepreneurs any amount would help. I know we are all struggling but I hope there will be brighter days to this darkness.
Thank you and stay safe,
Alisha
