DOG LEFT TO DIE ON FREEWAY - PLEASE HELP!
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
This past weekend we got a call (we have a lot of rescue dogs) about a big black German Shepherd who had been hit by a car (possibly on purpose judging from tire tracks), and was stranded on the freeway median on one of Houston’s most dangerous highways (290).
We jumped in the car (fresh out of bed with my broken foot in its boot and abandoned our breakfast). We have pictures and video of the rescue, but long story short after some panic and patience, we managed to safely get her and rush her to the vet for X-rays and ultrasounds etc. She was immediately put on fluids and pain meds to help stabilize her. She has a broken pelvis and lacerations and despite all that fur making her look big, is very emaciated and about 20lbs underweight. X-rays also showed she appears to have been eating trash (lots of junk in the belly).
We then had to drive her to Vergi 24/7 critical care where she is on fluids, IV with pain meds, urine catheter and antibiotics until she can be scheduled with the orthopedics at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (who will be looking at her today).
We have already paid almost $4,000 of our own money and in the last 6 months have rescued 5 dogs (in addition to our pack) that all required critical care and tens of thousands of dollars of medical expenses.
We could really use some help with donations. We feed and take care of 18 dogs (this will be 19) that have all been injured or abused and many require special medical care ....so it costs a fortune!! We are using money that is supposed to be for our fixer-upper we recently got on 15 beautiful acres in the country (for the dogs).
So friends, please share with your friends, the internet, Facebook and anyone who can share with their friends and the world ....let's help Gracie walk again!
You can also Venmo me - @k9kelaroo or PayPal Kelly Williams @kelaroo.
We so appreciate you taking the time to read and help. Most people scroll on, but people like you are part of the village that makes this world a better place.
Much love,
Kelly, Tristan and our furry rescue pack of 18! (19 if we end up with Gracie…)
