Dog Park Bench in Honor of Erick Devine

UPDATE!!!!!! We raised enough money to get a bench!! Ridgewood dog park is a county park and although when you call them it says press this # for memorial benches and trees........they then call you back and tell you that program was discontinued years ago. So Westvale Park in Westwood is a city park and 2.5 miles from Erick's house. Its where he took the boys the most and since they DO have a bench program the bench was ORDERED AND PAID FOR IN FULL today 5/13/19. It takes approx. 6 weeks or more to get it and I will post on FB letting everyone know when it arrives with photos. I would like to thank EVERYONE that donated. I had said that we would donate anything over to the dog rescue but in the mean time............Erick's own dogs have had some issues. Grooming and a vet appt last week totaled just over $500 and in that appt I found out that Otis has a fractured tooth (that you can move with your finger) and the estimate on it is $1400 with the cleaning. This is at his preferred vet clinic. He does have pet insurance but there is a $500 deductible and it should reimburse part of it.  So as of now anything over the cost of the bench is going towards the vet and care of his boys. Other then the tooth issue his boys were very lost at first and are doing better now. They are both available for adoption separately and are not bonded to each other. Erick Devine loved his boys more then anything. We would like to raise enough money to get a memorial bench in his honor at the Ridgewod Bark Park/Duck Pond Park where he spent so much of his time (and has no benches) and where he became family to many of us. I do not yet know the exact amount of the bench I just put $4k to start this. If we get more then we need we will get 2nd bench & so on. If there is any portion left that is not enough for an additional bench it will be donated to Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge. Erick recently lost a very good dog park friend to a long battle with cancer. He took in her dog at the end of her life, helped her find a wonderful new home after her owners passing and held her memorial at his home. At this memorial there was talk of a bench for her. I think he would have been the one to head this up later this year. So if we end up with enough for a 2nd bench it would be the Erick Devine/Bernice Hayden memorial bench. If for any reason we can not raise enough for 1 bench any money raised will go to the above named shelter.
