Dog saved from 2014 Sochi Olympics needs surgery
Hello! My dog Malchik is an amazing dog, as all dogs (pets) are and he needs help.
Our immediate need: to raise money so a fast growing tumor can be surgically removed and biopsied. It could be soft tissue sarcoma, the two previous tests we've had done are not conclusive. He had a scan that showed a better view of the tumor - there was fear it was rooted in there and could be a very tricky removal, but it appears encapsulated and though they may not get clear margins due to the location - it's by his tail/bum - there is relief in learning that it's not an extra difficult surgery.

Our backstory: he was saved from the 2014 Sochi Olympics where they were killing the street dogs before the Games because they were deemed 'biological trash' and believed that the tourists/crowds wouldn't like them. These dogs were mainly pets that had been set loose because people lost their homes due to construction for the Games. The plight of the Sochi dogs was made famous by Gus Kenworthy and other US Olympians that adopted dogs, it was an amazing thing to see the dogs gets help through social media and the media's reporting of the problem. My dog made it into a shelter in the Sochi area and then was one of a handful to be sent to Washington, DC to find a new home in America. While in Russia, he suffered a traumatic injury (probably hit by a car) that shattered his hind leg. Local staffers at a vet clinic went out to find him after hearing reports of a dog on the side of the road that couldn't move. They crowdsourced for his care and he had surgery to help repair the leg as best as they could. It's shorter and peg-leg like and all sorts of bone pieces are in there, but the US shelter vet team didn't think it needed to amputated. He still runs and plays and has an outlook on life that is inspiring.
Every day to him is awesome. He's happy to see you, he's happy to play, he loves to sit outside in the sunshine, he loves to go in the car, he loves coming back home, he loves whipped cream, and then repeat - every day is joyful for him - and for me to have him in my life. He has been to 25 states, he had an amazing bond with my late father, and he is one of those dogs that has been sprinkled with magic. I'm doing all I can to help him. We think he's 11, maybe 12 years old. Nobody believes he's over 6 years old with his zest for life and happiness, April 2024 will mark 10 years of him being in my life.
He's not a corgi but is corgi-sized - we all joke that he is Fun Sized.

I have an estimate for 4500-5400 for the surgery, then there is the diagnostic and then a start on treatments depending on the biopsy results and grade of the tumor. Any money that is left over or not needed will be donated to an animal shelter - whether the one he was in when he arrived in America or their fund that assists other people who need help with paying for their pet's veterinary care. I have insurance for him, but so much of his history is deemed preexisting, I have spent about 5000 since June for a dental issue/surgery he had as well as the recent CT scan. I am a pet sitter and do dog adventure hikes, It would take me months to save for this amount and I'm terrified that the delay would cause him further harm or worsen his medical issues.

If you are able to donate, thank you so very much.
Please feel free to leave a way to reach out to you, I want to send something to each person as a thank you. Social media helped save his life in Russia, I'm hoping it can help him again.
